Weekly Update 4/22/20

 Here's how this week went.

Longevity

I have torn labrums in both of my shoulders. I have not had surgery. I don't intend to have surgery. Instead, I focus on control, proper technique, and developing stability in my shoulders. The two things that will enable you to maintain your physical capabilities as you get older are having more patience and killing your ego. Today was shoulder-focused. As you can see, going heavy was less of a priority for me today than proper execution and control. If you want to improve your fitness. Do things that enable your day-to-day life to become easier. Especially if you're just getting started, don't worry about lifting a ton of weight. Just focus on doing things to make your life less stressful and more independent. That's what "Fitness" is about.

Coming Home

It's been almost 2 years since I stepped partially, then fully away from CrossFit. I needed a change after 10 years of CrossFitting, selling my gym, and a whole bunch of personal turmoil the last couple of years. I spent a little over a year working on strength gains. The last 8-10 months have been more about aesthetics. My cut is going well and I decided that I'm not really concerned with getting bigger right now. My strength has improved and that was one of my biggest goals during this time. My metabolic performance has suffered a bit because I haven't done anything to really push it in a long time. We all live in seasons and I'm moving into a season where how I perform is going to be more important than just my strength or my physique. There is a lot happening in 2022.... A LOT. I need to be ready for more external stress and activity than I've ever had. This is day two of me doing a CrossFit workout. I'm easing back in and loving every minute.
